Senate for Sale

Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu (LA) voted affirmatively last night after solidifying a $300 million deal for her state.  We always knew votes and Senators are for sale–just not this publicly.

Election Predictions

With three major races today, I’m taking a shot at predicting the winners.

1.  VA Governor:  It’s going to be Bob McDonnell, the GOP candidate with a two digit victory (a predicted margin of 12 points).  This seems like a slam dunk.

2.  NJ Governor: Only the NJ GOP can lose this kind of race to an unpopular Governor.  Expect the third-party Independent to play spoiler and watch NJ voters stay blue by re-electing Democrat Jon Corzine (much to my personal disappointment).  It will be a tight win for Corzine by two or three points.

3.  NY’s 23rd Congressional District: Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman will end up beating his Democratic opponent Bill Owens by three points, with no thanks to the strange actions by the former GOP  candidate in that race.

President Continues Attack of Fox News

The fact that the President continues to rant against a private news station as popular as Fox News is demeaning to his role as Chief Executive.  Shouldn’t he have bigger things to worry about?  What’s next?  Complaints about the number of pepperoni slices on a Pizza Hut pizza?

Government Attacks Fox

It’s not shocking to see the Obama administration go after Fox News, but it sure does demean the Presidency.

Shock: No Nobel Prize in Econ for President

Peace Prize the New Grammy?

Imagine after only two weeks on the job you were named Employee of the Year.  You’ve either achieved a massive accomplishment or your company’s management is naive.  The deadline for the Nobel Peace Prize is February 1, and President Obama’s name was entered into consideration by this date–approximately two weeks after taking office!

President Obama joins Woodrow Wilson and Jimmy Carter as U.S. Presidents who have won this “illustrious” award (don’t forget Al Gore won one too).  I used to believe that President Reagan deserved a Peace Prize for being the architect for the demise of the Soviet Union.  I no longer have that belief.  This Prize is political, shallow and virtually worthless.

Obama: Global Rock Star

He’s on the road again. No, not a campaign rally or a town hall meeting. No, not a visit to Capitol Hill to try to iron out health care or tort reform (heaven forbid). President Obama is off to Copenhagen to stump for the USA Chicago to host the 2016 Olympics.  This president is taking full advantage of the 24 hour media cycle, by providing us with non-stop action and activities.  The first lady arrived today, the president arrives Friday.  US media was already on the ground awaiting both arrivals.   Everything seems to be a priority for the president: health care, economy, cap and trade, climate change, and now the Olympics.  When will we see some substance from this leader, and some favorable deliverables?  I guess he’s hoping bringing the Olympics would be just that deliverable.  I hope we get more meaningful things from his presidency than just the ‘16 Olympiad.

Government Chasing Waste

One of the ways President Obama said he’ll fund this massive health care bill is to go after the waste currently in the health care system. Can anyone actually believe that government can hunt waste and eliminate it anywhere? It may be the most laughable line from last night’s speech.

Presidential Pep Talk

The prepared remarks of President Obama for today’s speech to public school students read more like a pep talk than an indoctrination. Kudos to the President for changing his path on this speech, however, is this speech even really necessary?

Van Jones Out

There was no main stream media attention to the Jones matter, but coverage on Drudge and other sites finally brought this fraud down. Congrats to Matt Drudge for a job well done! Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
