A BCS playoff system is SO UNnecessary. I like the idea of the bowls picking teams at random & the ensuing debate over whos #1, that's what makes it so interesting. After all one game, unless its a trouncing, doesn't even tell which of those 2 teams is the best of those 2 teams, & then the debate always starts over again about the teams over-looked to play the presumptive Best, or left out of the major bowls because they didn't play in the correct conference or play against the better known schools. Remember in the 20's-30's Ivy League schools routinely competed for the National Championship, now they aren't even considered good enough to be on the same field with an Oklahoma or Northwestern.
