Leave No Democrat Behind

The radical, liberal agenda of Pelosi, Reid and Obama is bankrupting the country.  While they toiled on health care legislation, unemployment and US debt continued to grow.  Now, we hear the President is getting cold feet on the topic of Israel while he’s disarming our nuclear weapons.

All of these reasons are prime examples of why the Democratic party is completely out of touch with reality, and why all Democrats should be voted out of office summarily in November.  They are too dangerous at the helm.

Americans: Health Care Too Costly

According to a USA Today poll, 2/3 of Americans think Obamacare costs too much and too greatly expands the size of government.  Let’s hope these numbers are true, and the GOP can use this to take back Congress, and eventually the White House.

Senate for Sale

Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu (LA) voted affirmatively last night after solidifying a $300 million deal for her state.  We always knew votes and Senators are for sale–just not this publicly.

Big Government to the Rescue

“Thank you, President Obama!”  That’s exactly what our spender-in-chief wants the American people to say tonight after his prime-time address to the nation.  In case you didn’t hear, Rahm Emanuel (my LEAST favorite Obama aide) provided a preview of the President’s remarks tonight where he indicated this administration rescued the economy:

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel told The New York Times Obama intends to use the news conference as a “six-month report card,” to talk about “how we rescued the economy from the worst recession” and the legislative agenda moving forward, including health care and energy legislation.

Emanuel’s arrogance is only surpassed by his boss’s.  They both want you to believe that their spending program (aka stimulus) has saved this country and turned our economy around.  The last time I looked, my paycheck wasn’t affected by their spending.  In fact, I think most Americans are worse off now then they were a year ago.  Unemployment continues to rise (although Obama said this spending program would help decrease joblessness) and there seems to be no direct relief from the overburdening federal tax behemoth.  Add in a crazy health care proposal and nonsensical energy plan and you get a country that may actually end up losing citizens if both proposals pass Congress.

If I was providing a six-month report card, I’d give this gang an F.

Supermajority?

Sixty votes in the Senate?  Not so fast.   There aren’t 60 Democrats in the United States Senate.  There are actually 58 Democrats and 2 Democratic caucusing Independents (Sanders and Lieberman).  Senator Kennedy and Senator Byrd are facing ill health and both can’t be considered sure locks for Democratic votes if they aren’t in the chamber.  But there’s more… add into the mix approximately 6 moderate/conservative Democrats and a handful of others who like to be “independent” and that magical 60 looks closer to fifty-something.  It’s still a majority, but not quite as super.

Coburn Questioning Spending Provisions

Oklahoma SenatorTom Coburn (R) is trying to unearth the lunacy of the spending package rushed through Congress by President Obama.  Highlights are below:

_A Bureau of Land Management project to study the impact wind farms have on the sage grouse population in Oregon. The proposal calls for hiring people to tag sage grouse in areas where wind farms may be built, to help determine where turbines could be located.

_$1.5 million in stimulus money for a $5 million new wastewater treatment plant in Perkins, Okla., his home state. Coburn said the stimulus money came with strings that will increase the costs. With a new total cost of $7.2 million, the city will be forced to borrow money and, as a result, utility taxes have increased by 60 percent this year, the senator said.

_Grants and loans totaling $1.3 million to Solon Township in Leelanau County, Mich., to help pay for construction of a wastewater treatment plant. Local opposition killed the project. The money will now be used for a future treatment plant, for which there is no plan and questionable local support.

_Road signs costing $300 each, being placed at construction sites to alert motorists that the project is being paid for by the stimulus money. Transportation Department spokesman Jill Zuckman said each state decides whether to use stimulus money for signs, and the cost would vary in each state.

_A $3 million project to repair taxiways at Hanscom Field, Mass., which Coburn said is for corporate jets. Richard Walsh, a spokesman for the independent state agency that runs the airport, Massport, said only 18 percent of the traffic at the airport is for corporate jets. Most of the use, 70 percent cent, is for flight students, he said.

_Montana’s state-run liquor warehouse, to receive $2.2 million in stimulus cash to install skylights. The project is part of the $27.7 million the state has been awarded for energy programs.

Newspaper Life Support

Senator Kerry is willing to prop up the newspaper industry with tax incentives normally not given to corporations.  But, since the liberal print media is a darling of the governing party, they’ll do all they can to keep these rags alive.  It will be our tax dollars being used to support more attack articles on Republicans, and more “Obama Loves His Wife” stories for the Democrats.  It’s enough to make you sick.

Congress Investigating Commercials

Congress is looking into a commercial that features Dr. Robert Jarvik rowing down a lake.  The atrocity?  A stunt double was used in said commercial.  Somebody let Guantanamo Bay know there may be some ad executives joining the ranks.

Today’s Small Government Heroes

Here’s the list:

President George Bush (I know, please pick yourself off the floor)

Sen. Tom Coburn

Sen. Jim DeMint

Sen. John McCain

Here’s why:

President Bush is calling out Congressional pork!  Where these great pork-cutting senators are working to clean up the earmark process, to make it more transparent and for legislators to be held accountable, the President is looking at ways to cut earmarks from the omnibus budget bill.  Could this be the beginning of a smaller Bush administration?  Don’t hold your breath.  DeMint, Coburn and McCain are pork hawks and have been fighting against earmarks for years.  This is the first I’ve heard from the President regarding pork, but I like what I hear.

GOP Presidential Contenders Talk about Overspending

The proof will be in the pudding, but this is at least a first step.
