A Century of Reagan

Today celebrates the 100-year birthday of President Reagan, our last great president.  Who wouldn’t want to see a return to the upbeat spirit that Mr. Reagan brought to this country for eight years in office?  Besides the policies, the philosophy and the global accomplishments, I most miss the cheery optimism which was the trademark of his personality.

Peace Prize the New Grammy?

Imagine after only two weeks on the job you were named Employee of the Year.  You’ve either achieved a massive accomplishment or your company’s management is naive.  The deadline for the Nobel Peace Prize is February 1, and President Obama’s name was entered into consideration by this date–approximately two weeks after taking office!

President Obama joins Woodrow Wilson and Jimmy Carter as U.S. Presidents who have won this “illustrious” award (don’t forget Al Gore won one too).  I used to believe that President Reagan deserved a Peace Prize for being the architect for the demise of the Soviet Union.  I no longer have that belief.  This Prize is political, shallow and virtually worthless.

He’s No Reagan

Newly sworn in President Obama stated, “The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works.”  What a massive departure from President Reagan, who reminded us that government is not the solution to our problem;  government is the problem.”  It is very evident that an Obama administration will not end big government, only encourage it.
