In a soft-ball ridden press conference, President Obama laid out his plan for socialized medicine. My favorite line:
“Right now, doctors a lot of times are forced to make decisions based on the fee payment schedule that’s out there. … The doctor may look at the reimbursement system and say to himself, ‘You know what? I make a lot more money if I take this kid’s tonsils out,’” Obama told a prime-time news conference.
Paging Dr. Obama! Why are we trying to overhaul an entire system when all he seems to want to do is provide health care to those without it? I’m certainly not a fan of federal health care, but this would seem like a fairer compromise.
Amidst the lunacy, the President was able to speculate and provide conjecture on the Professor Gates situation in Harvard. He wasn’t there, but commented that the police acted “stupidly”. Now that’s a fine statement by the Commander-in-Chief. Expect a full apology from the White House on behalf of the Cambridge Police Department.
Kudos to Sergeant James M. Crowley, the officer on the scene, for sticking to his guns (pardon the pun). Although it is very early in the internal investigation, this man doesn’t show any signs of racism, and was involved in the near rescue of Boston Celtic Reggie Lewis in the early-90s (a black basketball superstar). It’s another witchhunt and now has the attention of the White House.
