NAACP/Dems Plan Use of Race Card in 2010

The NAACP will consider a resolution which publically condemns the “explicitly racist behavior” of the Tea Party movement.  Buckle up because it’s going to get nastier.

Another Democrat Behaving Badly

Waste: NJ Spending $3.2M a Year on Unused Phones

About 20% of landlines within the NJ government were unused and will be disconnected.  Here’s another reason NJ is broke.

A Chicago-Style Appointment for Berwick

It looks like Dr. Donald Berwick will end up running Medicare and Medicaid, being appointed while the Senate is recessing.  Despite the facts that this position has been vacant since 2006, the Senate is only out of session for two weeks, and members of the Senate are still awaiting for Dr. Berwick to provide responses to some inquiries, the president must think it’s critical not to wait and press forward.

Or, he could be worried that a confirmation hearing would re-hash all the awful things that Obamacare stands for.

Are You Better Off Now?

The Democratic Party is trying to dig up all kinds of dirt on GOP candidates across the country.  There is no surprise here, since the Party has become an extension of Chicago-style politics.  The GOP must keep their cool amid these political fishing expeditions and ask voters if they are better off now than two years ago.  Remember two years ago?  All that hope and change?  Where is it?

City Bans Drive-Ins for Citizens’ Health

The California city that invented the drive-through, is now banning all new construction of these kinds of restaurants.  Their reasoning?  The fight against obesity in adults and children and the unsightly lines of cars stretching around these restaurants.

Aren’t we tired of a government that thinks they know best?  Even at this local level, the city planners are taking the freedoms of the citizens away.  But who can blame them–they are simply getting inspiration from the federal government.

Steele Should Say Goodbye

Quite possibly the worst GOP Chairman of my lifetime, Michael Steele has become a sideshow for the Republican party.  He has significantly overstayed his welcome and should remove himself from politics.

The Party would be in much better hands under a new leader.    Both Sarah Palin and Jeb Bush would be good replacements.

New Jersey’s Broke – Here’s Why

NJ Governor Chris Christie has a lot on his hands.  The state’s teachers union is one of his largest problems, and they are also one of taxpayers problems too.  Want some proof?  How about 553 pages of Elementary School Assistant Principals with most salaries WELL ABOVE $100,000.  That’s about 5550 administrators (a few also teach classes) working at the most basic educational level in the state.  It equates to a whole lot of money being spent distributing the finger paint and hand puppets.

Not to sound like an old-timer, but I don’t recall having any Assistant Principals when I attended elementary school.  We had a principal, some front office staff and teachers.  That’s a system that has seemed to work for countless school districts in NJ and across the country.  And these 5550 people represent just a small portion of the total needless employee base in NJ public schools.  The Asbury Park Press has a searchable database for federal, local and state employees including teachers at  http://www.app.com/datauniverse/.  When reviewing that site, make sure you have a strong stomach.

Kagan: Gov’t Can Tell You What to Eat?

Texas GOP Platform – A Case Study in Big Government

The 2010 Texas GOP platform is a list of “do-nots” hinged on the morality of a few fringe Republicans who claim to be conservative.  The truth is that any government or party hoping to shape the personal lives of Americans is generally an overpowering, oppressive entity which our Founders fought against.  The GOP platform in Texas isn’t a conservative one, but a big-government-knows-best plan which would outlaw certain kinds of sexual activity (even certain heterosexual sex), strip clubs, gambling and pornography.  Instead of focusing on the fiscal issues facing the state and the country, they took some quick jabs at easy targets like the gay population and immigrants.  You’ll have to scan to the end of the document before you get to issues of taxation, business and national security.

By the way, the state GOP is about $500,000 in the red.  No mention of how they’ll fix this problem and become fiscally secure in the full platform.
